[The problem with Nick is that he is roughly zero (0) anxiety. He almost never feels anxious, especially not over things like “we need to talk” and because of that, he assumes the same thing about everyone else.
So when he gets home, looking vaguely exhausted, he just finds Reggie and nudges him a little.]
[ Reggie is not especially prone to anxiety himself, though he isn't immune to it either; there are certain things that occasionally trip up alarms for him and remind him to put his guard up, occasionally things he know will be difficult or unpleasant to get through that cause him unease or even make him act avoidant or dista6, but that's usually as far as it goes.
He's home from his walk by the time Nick gets home; there's a box of eclairs on the kitchen table and coffee has been made, but after all that Reggie did still fall back asleep for a little while. His eyes blink opens and he sleepily pulls Nick close. ]
[ Shaking his head, Reggie sits up a little on his elbow, kissing Nick back a bit aggressively. He pulls him closer, fingers firm on Nick's wrist, other hand wrapping around to dig into his hair. ]
No. You said you wanted to talk, so let's talk. And-- [ His voice goes a little lower: ] I have a surprise for you.
[ So hopefully whatever Nick has to say about their contract isn't something Reggie won't like hearing. He's being confident about it. ]
[ That catches Reggie a little off guard, his eyebrows raising and lips parting with slightly confused (but not unpleasant) surprise. He isn't sure what he was expecting in particular, but somehow, it wasn't this; it's a little overwhelming to consider the implications of something so...
Well, permanent.
But Reggie kisses Nick again, nodding slowly as he does so. Maybe some (okay, a lot) of it is stressful to consider, but it's just as exciting, too-- he also knows he doesn't want this to end any time soon. ]
Are you kidding? [ He laughs a little, kissing Nick harder and carding fingers through Nick's hair. ] Then let's do it.
[He thinks of Veronica, right there, a few handfuls away, and a Dominant on top of it. She could take him. Sabrina is right there, too, and Reggie might think that Nick would leave him.
[ The words come easier than Reggie might have thought they would, flowing naturally and honestly before he gives himself any opportunity to stress about or overthink it. He's gotten better about that than he used to be, anyway, he's come a long way from the days when commitment scared him more-- when he'd be more likely to abruptly distance himself and self-sabotage in a panicked attempt to stay ahead of whatever inevitable rejection may lie further ahead.
But he knows now that he can do it, he's willing, provided someone gives him the chance. Not of all it is quite that simple, he knows that more than anyone, but some of it can be. Some of it is. ]
[ Reggie could protest the implication that anyone could take him, argue that no one can make him do anything if he doesn't want to, even here (whether it's true doesn't really matter, he still takes shallow comfort in the belief all the same), but he decides not to bother.
This is the most anyone's ever wanted him, and he'd rather just linger in that feeling. ]
It can wait. [ He strokes Nick's hair. ] I just picked something up while I was out before that I thought maybe you'd like to come home to me wearing. You know... like we talked about.
[ He clears his throat, pulling Nick close and kissing him on the forehead. ]

You can go back to sleep, if you want.
[He gives him a kiss.]
I wanted you to know I'm home.

I want our next contract to be permanent.

This is the solution.]

Reggie.
Did you buy me a plug to use on you?
[He is too tired to try it on him right now, but he will absolutely make Reggie wear it sooner, rather than later.]
no subject
Maybe I did.
[ Oh, he did. Their conversation got him too curious to be able to resist at least trying it.
He kisses Nick again, winking cheekily. ]
Pleasant dreams, babe.
